Okay, this has nothing to do with Baking, Pastry, Chocolate, or Sugar, and according to my Fairy Blog Mother one of the cardinal sins of blogging is taking you blog off topic. An off topic blog lacks direction and focus. However, the one thing that my Fairy Blog Mother asks at the beginning of everyone of her lectures is, “Who are you writing for?” The answer to that question is that I am writing for me, and for people like me. Aside from the baking stuff, Baker’s Hours is about me, and this post is about me, and as such is not really off topic.
The Twitter conversation on the left between me and my Fairy Blog Mother, Lorelle, happened on December 26th. As you can see, it all started when she tweeted that they were giving away WordPress temporary tattoos. As a goof, I (whom Lorelle already knows has many tattoos) asked what I would get if I got a real WordPress tattoo, and the conversation has been going off and on ever since.
Tonight the conversation finally came to the question of, “Where do I put it?”
Now, before you start rolling your eyes at me, let me tell you that I am a Tattoo enthusiast, and I take tattoos very seriously. I am not one of those people who walk into tattoo parlors and randomly pick a design off of the wall. I put a lot of thought into what tattoo I get, and I have spent months and even years planning out what kind of artwork I get. Every Tatto that I have has some sort of meaning or story behind it. I always say that is you are at a party where you don’t know anyone, find the person with the most tattoos. I guarantee that they will have some great stories to share.
So, why would I get the WordPress logo tattooed on my body. Because I have been a blogger in some form or another since 2004, and I have been using WordPress for most of that time (There was the time when I used Blogger, but I was young and stupid, and didn’t know any better). But, the point is that five years is a long time to be using any sort of brand. WordPress has been a big part of my life, and like other big things in my life I think that it is time for me to get inked.
So, I have decided to do this the diplomatic way. By asking you my fellow internet geeks, Where should I get my WordPress Tattoo? The only thing I have to say about placement is that I already have tattoos on both shoulders, and both calves. Everywhere else is open for discussion. And NO I will NOT get it on my butt or other No-No areas so get your mind out of the gutter!
Voting ends at the end of the month (January 30, 2009), and I will get the tattoo on my birthday, February 10th.

Well, before I even finished reading your paragraph I was already thinking your butt LOL! If that’s a no no, then what about on your upper arm? Do you have your tattoo on your shoulders down your arm too or just on your shoulder? If not, on your chest somewhere maybe?
Left shoulder down to mid bicep, and right upper arm taken.
Could you incorporate it into one of your bigger tattoos? Then it could be like a hidden picture thing?
Yay I love it! Geek tattoos rock
Since you use your hands to type, why not get your WP ink in that area … like on the underside of your wrist maybe?
I can’t wait to see the pics!
On the inner forearm, about half way between elbow and wrist. That way, when someone asks you what blog platform do you use as they’re shaking your hand, you simply need to rotate it 90 degrees….
I kind of like Matches Malone’s idea. The Queen’s idea is also good
I’m thinking shoulder blade.
I have many tattoos…and my favorite spots.. under the wrist or on your back just under your neck…
Make it a WP tramp stamp
No, seriously, I’d probably do it… left butt cheek; small.
I vote for the wrist or lower arm area. What color are you doing it in? Wish I could be around to see the completed project but I know you will post a picture, right?
I got here from Lorelle’s Twitter, and I’m seconding the person who mentioned on the wrist. It makes an understated yet classy statement? Or perhaps that that is just me.
It has to be your bum.
Has to be!
But then i would have to moon everywhere whenever I had to show it, and you know that Lorelle would want to me to show it every time we met someone. =P
I vote for on your wrist.
I would have also offered the “wrist” solution, but now that I’ve had time to think about it, I like Liz Strauss’ suggestion to put it on your thumb. Can you put a tattoo on your thumb? That way, you can hold your thumb up in a “right on” move with the WordPress logo showing up!
Other than that, wrist is my next vote.
Someone at the WordCamp Whistler tattoo contest event put it on their foot so they could “step on WordPress” which was fun, but I think that would be painful.
Can’t wait for the final decision.
waiting eagerly to hear the results – happy early bday!
real cool idea
Did you get payed by wordpress for the tattoo ???
Have a good time!
